P.J. Hahn was the former president of the East Jefferson Levee District Board, appointed by then Governor Mike Foster, and later appointed to take over the coastal zone management department of Plaquemines Parish Government.  His restoration expertise helped fulfill the parish government to balance the building of natural structures that would help to protect its communities from major storms. Among P.J.’s many accomplishments and achievements are:

• CPRA board – Designee for Plaquemines Parish on the board

• Board of Directors Western Dredge Association.

• Community Service Award from National Humane Society (October 2010)

• Written articles for DPC magazine (Published in the United Kingdom with worldwide distribution).

• Over site of local Coastal Zone Committee.

• Took over Plaquemines coastal department with $7 million in projects, to date Plaquemines has over $800 million in projects at various stages. 

• Started and completed first coastal plan for Plaquemines.

• First to identify and recommend coastal projects with storm surge features after extensive modeling with ERDC.

• Proposed the idea of building a berm along the barrier islands to stop oil during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The idea was later accepted by State, Corp and resource agencies, and was developed and built. The berm project was the largest coastal project in U.S. history, as well as the largest organization of large US fleet dredges.
